Injustice

I've got lots to blog about 1AH's fundraising and Dance practice and the new location of our church building and my other stolen tablet, but those shall wait until I'm able to find time to upload the photos.

"Guess what, City Harvest's new church building is going to be Suntec City Convention Centre!"
"Aiyah, they're just rich."
"..What rich...the money comes from all of us."
"How much did you give?"
"...$10."
"WHAT? Say again? You give that much every week?"
"I haven't even been able to go for service much anyway."
"How much did you give last week?"
"...$10."
"That's too much, Karen! $10 is too much! Where do you get all that money from!"
"Ang pow money?"
"(long lecture about money)... You're grounded for the month."

Freedom will be my biggest sacrifice. No Church...no OG outing... no chilling with my friends and strengthening friendships before the workload starts piling up later on. And I study better away from home, alone, in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. That means somewhere away from school. Not March, please not this month.

Talk about the righteous being punished.
When I said "What rich...the money comes from all of us", it was because I was reminded of something Pastor Kong said a little sadly, as if almost in resignation. It went something like this:
"The building's going to cost $310 million... we need $17.3 million more by June.. People think City Harvest happened just like that *snaps fingers*...but it's all a result of our sacrifice."

On behalf of Pastor Kong who gives $1000 a week, on behalf of Pastor Zhuang who's pledging a five-figure sum despite being in financial difficulties due to baby Tyler's crazy hospital bills, on behalf of the one who sold his beloved motorcycle and gave all the proceeds to the building fund, the one who sold his flat and moved to a smaller one to be able to give more to the building fund, to the 7-year-old who told his father to donate all his ang pow money to the building fund... I cry out in protest to the close-minded, ignorant, solely-criticising opinions the outside world has of the church.

The money comes from somewhere. It comes from us cheerful sacrificers for the Lord. It's not about the amount or where it goes to... God sees our hearts and the love that comes with the sacrifice.
